Eucatex Group was established in 1951 as a producer and marketer of liners and insulation made from eucalyptus wood fibers. Currently, the company is serving furniture manufacturers as well as large industrial construction companies. The company is run in two segments, and they are:
- Construction Industry – in this segment, Eucatex produces modular partitions, laminate floors, doors and paints
- Furniture Industry – the company is the largest producer of wood fiber plates, MDP and Tamburato. Their products are manufactured using advanced technology and eucalyptus wood.
Flavio Maluf is the President of Eucatex Group. Mr. Maluf joined the family business in 1987 where he worked in the trade area. He worked in this department for almost a decade before moving to the industrial area in 1996. In the same year, Mr. Maluf became a member of the frame executives after being invited by his uncle who at the time was the president of Eucatex. A year later, a family agreement endorsed him president of the company.
After becoming president, Flavio Maluf started modernizing the company. He spearheaded the company’s project of opening branches across Brazil and exporting its products to almost 37 countries across the world. The exports have led to the company’s growth as it is evident on the profits made and the growth in its product market. In 2014, Eucatex recorded a profit of R$ 10.7 and the market for Eucatex products rose by 30%.
In 2010, the company opened an industrial plant in Salto, Sao Paulo state. The plant produces T-HDF/MDF (Thin High-Density Fiberboard and Medium Density Fiberboard). Eucatex owns a recycling plant that recycles wood residue. Through the plant, Eucatex avoids depositing wood residue on landfills hence reducing pollution to the environment.
Eucatex is recognized for producing environmentally friendly products. As a result, it has received various certifications such as FSC® Certification and ISO 14001. The FSC® Certification is proof of respect for the environment and responsible handling of materials used to manufacture products. The ISO 14001 certification acknowledges companies that comply with standards that promote environmental protection.
