In an interview that was carried out by Interview magazine.com, Alex Pall, who is one-half of the alternative pop duo known as The Chainsmokers, spoke about how he got his start in the music business, among other things. He revealed that he became a DJ at an early age first as a hobby, but after showcasing his record spinning skills around the New York area where he lived, he ended up getting a successful career going for himself.
He stated that he later met a college student named Andrew Taggart, who became the other half of The Chainsmokers, after his first partner left the band. Andrew was introduced to Alex Pall by a club manager after he took an interest in the art of DJing and the EDM music genre, and he was later responsible for helping pen their breakout hit Closer, which he co-wrote on a tour bus with another friend. The duo both produced and performed the song, along with featured singer Halsey, who Alex Pall said he enjoyed working with, due to the fact that he thinks she’s cool and unique and has a strong voice, and is unapologetic about her personal style.
The duo has also done background vocals on other music artists’ songs, and Alex Pall says that when he writes songs, he does it according to what he cares about, whether it be his political views or his other passions. When he was asked about what purchases he and Andrew made after their sudden success, he replied that they weren’t the type of guys that like to go out and buy expensive cars. However, he said that he did buy a house in the Hollywood Hills with his earnings, and he let New York interior designer Peti Lau decorate it for him. This unique designer is known for having a distinct style called Aristo Freak, and the singer said that this style is very close to his own.
Alex Pall also told the magazine that The Chainsmokers have been working on a lot more great music that they intend to put out in the near future.
