Start-up companies from different industries including education, healthcare and legal now have a competitive edge thanks to JD.com incubator initiative. Already JD has worked with FaGouGou, (a leading legal service provider) to develop a Chabot for merchants who require legal services. Some of the fields that have seen a significant boost include resolution of labor issues, certifications, corporate management, financing and investment. Such legal technology has been part of resolving legal problems amidst the current shortage of legal representation in China.

Thanks to JDs legal database, AI algorithm and speech recognition technology, the Q&A platform has benefited SMEs, entrepreneurs, merchants and JDs suppliers. For instance, Pain Points wine shoppers who have incorporates JDs AI have seen a significant shift in their business. With the Chinese wine app 9KaCha, you need to worry less about the name of the red wine you just had last night.

The app has incorporated JDs snapshot technology allowing users to upload photos. 9KaCha analyzes hundreds of thousands of wines and gives detailed information such as the taste, color, origin, and type with the click of a button. Through the application, you can upload a photo of a wine label to help you expand your collection or receive recommendations about other wines in the market.

Start-ups can now get off the ground successfully thanks to the AI accelerator program that provides different support services. Aside from enjoying JD’S rich application across different parts of the business, they still get access to a wide range of support services including mentoring and training in management, product, development and research.

The initial phase debuting 16 start-ups has already seen eighty percent of its participants succeed. According to Bowen Zhou, head of JD AI Platform& Research the accelerator program has immensely provided them with different ways on how they can leverage technology resources. The second batch of 17 new start-ups including leading video provider, Zenn and 3D vision provider Huajie IMI has already been announced. JD will be working closely with these start-up companies in a few months to improve their innovations and scale-up their technologies.
