During the 2016 NFL season several teams took a step closer to the playoffs. One team that looked to make one of the biggest steps forward were the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After having several years with poor records, the 2016 team ended up winning nine games and losing just seven. This record had them in contention for the playoffs all year, although they ended up finishing just shy of qualifying. While the 2016 Tampa Bay Buccaneers were very good and improved, some believe that they could take an even bigger step forward next year (http://www.inquisitr.com/opinion/4373853/tampa-bay-buccaneers-why-they-are-super-bowl-contenders/).
While many people believe that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are still a few years away from making a deep playoff run, others believe that they have as good a chance as any NGC team of winning the conference and going to the Super Bowl. One of the main reasons why the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are considered a favorite to make the playoffs and advance to the Super Bowl is that they will be returning their star quarterback Jameis Winston. In just his second year last year, Winston looked like a Pro Bowl player that had the ability to gain the respect of teammates and opponents.
Another reason why the 2017 Tampa Bay Buccaneers could take another step forward is that they have a much improved offense with several new key skill players. During the offseason, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were able to sign wide receiver DeSean Jackson, who previously had Pro Bowl seasons with the Eagles and Redskins. They also were considered one of the winners of the draft when they were able to grab OJ Howard in the middle of the first round. Howard was previously a dominant tight end for the University of Alabama. They also made a few key defensive improvements to help reduce opponent scoring.
