1st Prospect List is Out

October 26th, 2009 | by Jason Collette |

One of the guys at RotoJunkie who closely follows the minor leagues has put out his 2010 Top 150 prospect list and I believe it’s one of the first to market. Yes, it does have a bit of a roto-tilt to the list but the Rays are still very well represented.

Thoughts?

Brignac ahead of Hellickson? This list sounds like it is heavily influenced by lists from past seasons. Brignac will be 24 next season and hasn’t yet shown that he will be anything other than a backup middle infielder on a good team. Hellickson on the other hand is no longer the too skinny, too short-for-a-righty, not fast enough-fastball. But for Hellboy to do what he did in AA and AAA for a 22 year old and he should be much higher.

I guess the way I think about it. Would I trade Matt Moore for Hellickson? Yep. Would I trade Brignac for Hellickson? IN. A. HEARTBEAT.

Yep – that’s where I sat too. Brignac and Hellickson should be flipped. I think Brignac is still a starter as a major leaguer, just not the 9A type prospect people thought he was going to be.
